About the role and our team

We are looking for a proactive and flexible individual to join our team within the Criminal and Summary Courts Division as a Court Support Officer!

This is an interesting role, as no two days are the same. Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing administrative assistance and support to both the Summary Courts and High Courts
  • Showing the advocates and members of the public to their seats
  • Summoning those called before the court and assisting them to their places
  • Preparing the courtrooms prior to court (putting out water/notepaper for the Judiciary and assisting with setting up IT equipment)

You will be part of the summary courts team, which consists of a manager and three court clerks. The team deals with a wide variety of matters including inquests, criminal cases, alcohol licensing, care proceedings and family cases. You may also be required to provide ushering duties for other teams within the Courts Division.

When you’re not in court, you will assist with administration tasks in the office such as logging of the daily post onto the post sheet, photocopying and distribution to parties of court orders, boxing up and labelling court files and more.
