JOB TITLE: Climate & LCA Technical Manager

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Sustainability Office is a focused, passionate team within the Strategy and Sustainability function. The team works with broader cross-functional team, engaging and working collaboratively and innovatively with all functions across the business.

Given the strategic nature of the work undertaken within the Sustainability Office, this role will provide exposure to and engagement with senior stakeholders across the business.

As the Climate & LCA Technical Manager, you will lead the functional co-ordination of competency (people, tools & data), targets, reporting and insight on climate and LCA across the business and externally.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and support functions to set appropriate targets and consistently report results regarding our SBT commitments.
  • Ensure the appropriate tools and processes are in place to provide an accurate status on JLR’s progression towards our SBT and net zero targets.
  • Co-ordinate improvements in our measurement of scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions outside of our SBT commitment and manage the process to increase the scope of our commitment where appropriate.
  • Lead the technical development of training material regarding LCA & climate for JLR learning and development platforms.
  • Define and communicate best practice in climate reporting and LCA and represent JLR in external technical forums on LCA.
  • Grow LCA capability and competence across the business to ensure that key business decisions are supported with appropriate and consistent data and support the development of an LCA & climate technical expert community.
  • Co-ordinate the development and access to LCA and climate related tools across the business to ensure best practice and value.
  • Review climate related communications to ensure consistency in the communication of LCA and climate related activities.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

· Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills: ability to influence and build lasting relationships

· Communication: excellent presentation skills; ability to clearly communicate complex problems into simple, compelling messages/decision points

· Analytical/problem-solving: intellectual and analytical rigor, including negotiation capabilities

● Comprehensive knowledge of project management methodology & tools

● Good understanding of climate and LCA methodologies and of sustainability within automotive and dependencies, connections with other industries (energy/utility, digital, materials etc.), investors, institutional bodies, regulators, NGOs, academia, international relations, politics and economics

  • Experience of working in a large complex organisation in a cross functional, matrix management environment to ensure project and business objectives are achieved
  • Experience of project management reporting, metrics and approaches
  • Passionate about Sustainability and able to convey messages in a way that gains engagement in the sustainability strategy
