Summary

We are looking for an individual to join our close knit team who has a passion for food. No experience is required as full training will be given but the right candidate will diligent and enjoy a variety of challenges in a face paced environment.

Please note internally you’ll be known as a Cook.

What it’s like to work here

Tea rooms - Found in the visitor centre, the tea rooms are open every day. The team are on hand to serve delicious treats inspired by the season. Warm up with a hot bowl of soup, or you can find tasty sandwiches, crisps as well as freshly made bakes and cakes. No lunch is complete without a drink, so enjoy a hot drink from the menu or pick up a fruit juice. There’s something for the whole family to enjoy with children’s lunchboxes available. Dine in or takeaway, with gluten-free and vegetarian options available.

The Still Room -The Still Room is located between the archways of the house, and is open seasonally, so please ask for details when you arrive. The Still Room was once a room used by the servants to store preserves, cakes, and liqueurs. Today, this petit eatery serves up light bites, sweet treats, hot and cold drinks and snacks. Grab something to take with you as you journey through the estate or eat in. The Still room is open seasonally. Please check with a member of the team on arrival for details.

Crozier’s kiosk - Crozier’s is a takeaway kiosk located next to the adventure play area on the Carriage Drive. It opens seasonally and is a great place to grab a drink or some light refreshments after swooping, sliding and gliding or building dens nearby.

What you’ll be doing

With your passion for food and your appetite to provide an exceptional service to your customers, you’ll work with the National Trust Cookbook framework to prepare delicious food. Working with local produce you’ll always be looking for ways to minimise waste and control costs and resources. With your attention to detail you’ll ensure each dish is fresh, tasty and beautifully presented every time.

As a key member of our busy Food & Beverage team, you’ll make sure the team is working effectively to deliver great results. You may also be required, on occasions to supervise volunteers.

You’ll help the Food & Beverage team ensure our kitchens are presented to the highest standard and are compliant with all relevant legislation around food hygiene and COSHH.

The National Trust ethos will always be at the forefront of your mind, and you’ll be proud to share our good work with our customers, you’ll look to maximise sales with new ideas so that the profit can be reinvested back into our conservation work.
