OVERALL SUMMARY

The Assistant Financial Accountant will play an integral part of the Central Finance Team who are responsible for managing accounting for c£125m-£150m annual costs (c40% of the Banking Division) including large ongoing projects. The Assistant Financial Accountant would be heavily involved in all day to day aspects of Central Finance Team and would report into the Central Finance Manager.

The role would be responsible for key monthly deliverables such as posting accruals and prepayments, producing various balance sheet reconciliations, reconciling the daily bank call accounts and the posting of various recharges. The role would also be involved in the production of the quarterly FINREP packs and Interim/Year-end Packs.

The successful candidate would work in a team of 3, managed by the Finance Manager for the team and would have regular dealings with the Central Financial Controller.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Accounting

Ensure all relevant accruals and prepayments are posted; including: Audit Fees, Car Lease Rebates, Dilapidations, Staff Bonuses, VAT accruals, various prepayments and any other adhoc monthly postings occur

Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations along with supporting schedules for review and sign off by FM, FC and FD

Daily reconciliations of the various bank call accounts managed by the Central team.

Post various recharges; including: Variable Recharges, Car Leases, CBILS, IFRS2, Credit Advisors, Share Based Awards and Company Credit Cards

Deep dive into the monthly accounts to find any fixed assets that need capitalising and owning the fixed asset processes

Financial and regulatory reporting

Key involvement in producing the Interim and Year-end Financial Reporting Packs

Key involvement in producing the quarterly FINREP Packs

Producing the monthly required regulatory forms

Other responsibilities

Develop relationships with other Finance teams including, but not exclusively the Central FP&A team, Central project finance team, Bank consolidation team and business Finance teams

Ongoing process review and improvement to maintain excellent financial control. All process notes to be maintained and updated where required

Actively support the Company’s Vision and Values, ensuring that it is promoted and adhered to within the team

Ensure process documentation for all areas is up to date for any changes in process

People

Take part in being coached or mentored, and seek out all opportunities for personal development

Adhere to the firm’s policies, procedures, standards and SLAs

Attend regular one-to-ones with line manager, taking on all advice on how to develop within the team

Ensure that stretching objectives are set so that candidate can thrive in new role

Ensure all online training is completed when required

Risk & Compliance

Ensure that all Governance and Compliance requirements are adhered to and all reporting and reviewing activities required by the Regulatory Bodies are carried out to the standards required

WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF:
Candidate looking to become a fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)

Strong Excel skills (V-look-ups, Pivot tables, Index- Match)

Microsoft Office

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to work independently and be a key team player

Ability to dive deep into data, existing processes, people and technology challenges to identify issues and opportunities

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple workstreams

Ability to link business activities to Financial Control

IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU:
Previous cost accounting experience

Experience in using SAP and Alteryx
