Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern:Full time, 37 hours per week, Term Time Only 38 weeks

WSCC have an exciting opportunity to become an Advisory Teacher.

Working as an Advisory Teacher in our Elective Home Education (EHE) team, you will enjoy participating in the future planning of the service and sharing ideas on new ways of working.

The opportunity


As an EHE Advisory Teacher you will be at the heart of ensuring home educated children are receiving the best learning experience they deserve.

You will provide an expert point of reference, sharing advice and guidance with families, schools, colleagues, educational provisions and the wider EHE community. This role requires strong relationships to be built with families to ensure the education being provided is suitable and effective.

You will have line management responsibility of one EHE Support Officer.

Key responsibilities

  • Visiting families to review their educational provision.
  • Sharing your knowledge and understanding of educational law, the Local Authority, the National Curriculum, and alternative educational provision.
  • Making informed decisions on educational provision.
  • Providing and evaluating reports and identifying review dates and further actions.

About you


We are looking for someone who is passionate and committed to supporting positive, solution focussed outcomes for children and young people.

To carry out this role you will need high levels of communication and organisational skills as you will need to prioritise and work independently; confidence to make and stand by your decisions is key. You will also need an open-mind and creative understanding of educational provision.

You will have Qualified Teacher Status in addition to experience of identifying and developing effective educational resources.
