As the Welcome & Service Assistant, it’s your role to ensure that every aspect of our visitor’s experience is going to be a delight!

We welcome enthusiastic flexible people who are willing to support one another across the whole portfolio, to ensure cover is available during holidays, training etc. Weekend working will be a regular requirement in this role.

This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we strive to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible.

What it’s like to work here:Avebury is a complex, and very special place. It is a World Heritage Site covering more than 6,000 years of history. At its heart, is Europe’s largest megalithic stone circle which attracts people from all over the world. There is also an on-site museum displaying archaeological finds and explaining the history of the site, a sixteenth-century manor house and a six-acre Edwardian garden, a National Trust shop, the Circles Restaurant, plus a holiday cottage, a variety of tenanted properties, and farms set in and around the village itself. All this within a designated World Heritage Site!

What you’ll be doing:As the largest conservation charity in Europe we work hard to raise funds, so that we can continue to care for all the heritage in our trust. Visitors are a vital part of what we do, so you’ll be responsible for ensuring that you provide an excellent service to all our visitors. You’ll also be responsible for answering queries and making sure visitors can find everything they need for their visit.

When interacting with our visitors, you’ll inform them of the amazing work we are doing and what their money is funding, promoting local projects or our national strategy. You’ll be happy working alone, outdoors and on your feet in all weathers, and have a flexible attitude to moving between sites. You’ll identify tasks, prioritise your time and check in with the team. You’ll be conscientious and take pride in looking after the daily operation and presentation of the place you work each day.
