We have an exciting business improvement opportunities to lead on establishing and embedding joined up reference data list and management in the Water Regulation business and associated business areas. The development and implementation of new IT systems and services is bringing a need and opportunity to update and improve our reference data. We are looking for an individual with a strong track record in consulting and collaborating with others to understand and deliver reference data lists and ongoing governance. You will work closely with our IT delivery programmes to ensure your work is embedded and aligned with wider strategic initiatives and downstream data processes.

You will be part of the Water Regulation Digital Services team who are currently engaged in a variety of initiatives to modernise IT supporting water quality. Your work will form a key part of the team effort to ensure a smooth transition to new systems and technologies.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The team

The role will work between the Water Regulation Digital Services team and the Water Regulation Digital Innovation team. Both are within the national Water function of the Environment Agency, which sets the priorities and shapes our approach to delivering environmental outcomes and better regulation.

We work closely with colleagues across the Environment Agency, with Government, delivery partners and customers to help create a better place for people and wildlife and demonstrate value for money.

Experience/skills Required

You’ll have experience of leading or playing a major role in the development of new IT systems and excellent understanding of data management. You will be able to deliver well balanced business data reference lists which align with long term data quality ambitions while also supporting fast paced IT delivery projects.

Knowledge of Water Regulation and existing data systems/reporting supporting the business is desirable but not essential.

You will be a highly effective communicator and an experienced influencer with an adaptive style who can advocate positively for change. You will have experience in creating, prioritising and tracking lists of business IT requirements.

You’ll be able to act as a confident client, ensuring our needs are understood and met by our delivery partners.

Contact and additional information

Your base location will be any Environment Agency office in England. Dispersed working is the norm at present, but some national travel will be required . We use technology to full effect to keep in touch and enable a good work/life balance.
