As the first port of call for B3, we are looking for someone enthusiastic, hard working and organised to join our team.

Answering telephone calls, directing appropriately, filing and administrative duties are just some of the aspects that will be expected of you.

You must have a flexible attitude to work and be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Part time hours can be considered. As an admissions unit, reception cover is required 7 days a week 24 hours a day. Unsocial hours will be part of the contract.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Receptionist position on the B3 Acute Medicine Unit. B3 is a 64 bedded admission unit, accepting medical patients from the Emergency Department and from same day emergency care on the Acute Medicine Receiving Area and Medical Ambulatory Care Units. Our AMU has recently undergone an extension and refurbishment and we are extending further to create additional capacity for our patients.

We are an extremely busy ward, with high numbers of admissions and discharges and ward pressures.

You will have good organisational skills and an excellent telephone manner. You must be able to manage your work load and prioritise effectively as well as having good communication skills and will be professional at all times. You must be committed to a high standard of patient care and safety.

B3 AMU is a fast paced environment, taking patients from the Emergency Department who require short stay care or are in need of further assessment.

We have a large team but we always look out for one another and are keen to develop each other, both professionally and personally. We pride ourselves on our teamwork and willingness to engage with each other to ensure that even the most difficult of shifts are managed.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.

Consent:

  • Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Departmentconfidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£45 for enhanced and £28 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
