Summary

We’re looking for a Volunteering & Community Manager to join our team here at the National Trust Saltram. We are committed to making our places welcoming to everyone and we want to find the right person to help us build our work with different communities to realise this vision.

We are looking for someone experienced in Community Engagement who can also lead for Volunteering. We have a developed volunteering offer across our properties and the successful candidate will support and empower our Volunteer and Community Officer to review standards of volunteer management, develop new and existing volunteer skills, and diversify volunteering opportunities. We are at the beginning of our journey of working collaboratively with communities and we are looking for someone who will enable us to broaden and deepen our work with a range of different partners and communities. We need someone who has a great ‘outreach’ track record but who is also experienced in the ‘in reach work’ helping colleagues to develop, grow and embrace new ways of working that will make our community partnerships fruitful and meaningful.

What you’ll be doing

You will be responsible for the leadership and delivery of community engagement for Saltram, identifying the best opportunities and enabling the engagement for exciting projects, focusing on Future Saltram in particular. You will develop and build appropriate partnerships with external stakeholders to deliver our strategic ambitions.

You will lead the strategic development of volunteering at the Saltram including increasing and improving opportunities for volunteer engagement, deepening relationships, and developing new and existing skills. Working with the team, you will develop new offers and improve the experience for current volunteers, finding new ways to use their time and talents. Whilst this role will be very heavily focused on supporting the Future Saltram Project you will also be part of the Property leadership team, reporting directly to the General Manager. The role will also have a range of operational responsibilities, including the occasional weekend Duty management and house supervisor shifts.

  • Proven track record of delivering successful community engagement and long-term partnerships.
  • Experience of delivering effective and meaningful consultations with communities.
  • Passion and enthusiasm about the benefits of great volunteer involvement and the importance of involving our supporters in our cause.
  • Great communication and coaching skills, strong leadership and a passion for making a difference.
  • Determination to champion community partnership internally and enable everyone to play their part in community partnership working.
