Join our small, agile and ambitious team of volunteers to help us manage and monitor the financial administration of the charity.

What will you be doing?

accounts in a system such as QuickBooks or Xero.

  • Oversee the financial affairs of the charity and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice
  • As a newly registered charity, support the setup of financial systems
  • Ensure proper records are kept and effective financial procedures are in place
  • Monitor and report on the financial health of the charity (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance etc) at quarterly trustee meetings
  • Oversee production of financial reports/returns, accounts and audits
What are we looking for?
  • Qualified or trainee accountant with demonstrated commercial awareness
  • Knowledge of charity SORP
  • Competent IT skills
  • Proven ability to communicate financial information
  • Analytical and evaluation skills, demonstrating good judgement
  • Understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
Charity Trustees play an important role in making sure that the charity is run in the interests of the people it is there to support. They strategically oversee the management and administration of the organisation. Being a Trustee, especially of a smaller charity,

takes dedication, requires commitment and is a big responsibility but it is a fantastic way to help make a real and lasting difference in the lives of others.

Ideally you will have previous experience of being a Treasurer on a charity Board.

What difference will you make?

Child pregnancy rates, despite relatively decreasing year on year, remain high, with some parts of Nottinghamshire continuing to be regarded as ‘hot spots’ with rates of pregnancies under 18 being as high as 25 per 1000. That is 2.5 % of under 18s getting pregnant. We know that these are in the most part unplanned and unwanted as between 25-77% of these result in abortions.

Unplanned pregnancy rates across the world remain at an unprecedented level despite us knowing of the obvious impact on the environment. We are bringing this issue to the classroom and students are receptive and enthusiastic about the massive positive changes they can individually make to protecting our environment by carefully considering their own family planning and only aspiring to the planned wanted child.

You Before Two is a small, agile and ambitious charity. By joining our board now, you are joining us at a time when we are building strong foundations for the future of our organisation and our beneficiaries. You will have opportunities to develop ways of working and make a tangible difference to the ability of the charity to deliver more vital training, through sharing your knowledge and expertise in financial management.

What’s in it for the volunteer?

We are a small, agile and ambitious team of friendly people who all feel passionately about protecting young people and our planet. We are open minded and friendly and offer remote and flexible ways of working.
