The role is of a 6 month Trust Grade Doctor in acute medicine.

The purpose of this role is to support the management of the increased number of patients within acute medicine over the winter period. The TDG will enable the acute medicine team to cover outlier wards, however, the successful applicant will NOT exclusively work on the outlier wards but rather rotate amongst the 3 other registrars in acute medicine to allow for a wider experience in acute medicine.

They will work closely with the multidisciplinary therapy team and will have close supervision and training from the acute medicine consultants. If the post holder is keen to pursue a career in acute medicine, they will be supported and encouraged in gaining subspecialty experience and in applying for a training post if they so wish.

At Charing Cross Hospital, acute medicine has two main ward areas which in total have 60 medical bed of which 13 are monitored and 14 are side rooms. The successful applicants will rotate amongst 4 different consultant led ward rounds. Beyond ward round work, they will have the opportunity to work within the Same Day Emergency Clinic as well as join the medical take.

There will be local teaching on a weekly basis as well as additional trust teaching once a week.

The successful applicant will be supported by both consultant and registrars who will conduct daily ward rounds. There is consultant cover on site from 0800 to 2200.
