Location: Wellingborough (NN8 2DH)

Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)

Shift pattern: Mon-Fri 40hrs per week (10:00-18:00) However, flexibility will be required to cover absence

Role Purpose:

  • Managing a team of Drivers and Transport Clerks to deliver the day to day execution of the Transport schedule, in line with EU driving regulations.
  • This role will also require a strong relationship with our warehouse teams.
  • The successful candidate will be required to work a shift pattern that may change with the needs of the business.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage the day to day transport operation and team of Driver and Clerks
  • Deliver a successful transport plan and report on daily performance.
  • Leads collegue engagement
  • Is planned and organised but agile enough to react to operational issues that arise
  • Holds regular 1 to 1’s and performance reviews, succession planning.
  • Absence and performance management, including disciplinaries.
  • Driving departmental improvements through CI initiatives and OMS.
  • Continue to improve engagement with the colleagues and implement EOS feedback.
  • Ensuring comms are clear and timely to all relevant departments and customers

Requirements:

  • Experience in Transport Management (essential)
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels (essential)
  • Ability to work under pressure to agreed and moving targets (essential)
  • Creative problem solver (essential)
  • Team builder with good interpersonal skills (essential)
  • PC Literate (Microsoft Excel & E-mail) (essential)
  • Investigation and DP experience (essential)
  • High school/secondary education (essential)
  • Experience of managing an open book Transport contract (desirable)
  • Experience of Transport systems (desirable)
