Position: Creative Digital Design Apprentice

Location: The main office is based in Daventry, therefore it would be best to be based within a commutable distance of this office.

Contract Type: Full-time Apprentice – 4 days of working and 1 day for studies.

For the first time ever DHL are proud to be offering this Creative Digital Design Apprenticeship. Working within our Bids Excellence team, we are offering a fantastic opportunity for those who wish to gain a qualification within Digital Design, but wish not to go down the university route. The course is provided by Newcastle College and is offering up to 6 levels of qualification that can be gained within a 36 month period, plus an additional 12 month for the End Point Assessment (EPA).

Course Overview!

The BA (Hons) Creative Digital Design Apprenticeship programme aims to reflect the ongoing changes and developments within the creative industries by working in line with the latest technological trends. This apprenticeship has been designed to support the creative and technical skills that are in high demand by the wider Digital Design and Creative Industries within the region, such as typography and graphic design, branding and advertising, fine art and visual communication information and interaction design, photography, data visualisation and moving image.

All of these are pursued by uniquely balancing design creativity with contemporary technology. The Apprenticeship will explore different media and develop specialist skills in studio-based teaching and technical workshops which are complemented by contextual and professional studies.

The Job within DHL!

We are offering the successful candidate the opportunity to work alongside the Graphic Design Manager and the wider Business Development Community to create original graphic design and layout concepts that deliver greater impact to our customers. We will provide you the chance to use your acquired expertise to assist with realising the creative vision of the bid team using the latest design technology.

Working closely with the Graphic Design Manager we will be looking for you to support with all graphic design activities and bid response for both private and public sector opportunities. This will extend across all sectors of DHL Supply Chain covering both new and existing customers.

As the Apprentice, your activities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Full bid document design (both Print and Digital)
  • Creation of highly visual infographics and interactive graphics.
  • Video and animation.
  • Exploring new digital and engaging creative solutions to design briefs.
  • Supporting the wider sales team with design requirements.

  • Ability to demonstrate your passion and interest for Graphic Design and Digital Design.
  • Previous working experience or at least an understanding of Adobe Creative Suite or similar is desirable – for example; Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator.
  • Previous working experience or an understanding of Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • GCSE in Maths & English (C or Above) is this a DHL requirement?
  • A Level or equivalent in an Art or Design based subject – preferred.
