As part of our organisational objectives of moving from brown to green we are looking at a programme of work across our UK business that will continue our transformation to be a leader in the delivery of sustainable energy services.Our RIO Programme (Rejuvenate our business, Innovate our offerings and deliver as One team) spans the breadth of our business. With 4 key streams of activity, it has been designed to mirror our operation, build high performing teams, support the operation of our assets, enhance trading and to support growth through delivering the performance to justified continued investment in the UK business. Over the last 5 years there has been significant expansion of the business through the acquisition of the UK’s largest flexible generator and the recent announcement to build 150MW of batteries at the Wilton site. Over the coming years we want to continue and accelerate this journey.We currently operate a hybrid delivery model due to the diverse portfolio of projects in scope, ranging from large scale investments in digital technologies at the forefront of data science and optimisation, to projects addressing legacy and operational issues, to large scale construction projects for nationally significant infrastructure.At the heart of these delivery streams is our Transformation Office which operates several critical functions; building best practice to support a common set of methodologies, ensuring that we plan strategically and that we have the governance in place to control and manage. With so much going on in the business it’s important that we have clarity and sight of our project portfolio at every step of the process, from weighting of pipeline to benefits realisation.Control, governance, visibility, and management will be key to this role as we embark on a journey of transformation, seek to build for the business, for the regions in which we operate and for the wider energy infrastructure of the UK.This role will be at the very heart of this exciting, challenging, and diverse agenda. You will manage a small programme management office but have a big influence on delivery progress and execution of a significant portfolio.Key ResponsibilitiesSet and drive standards for the delivery of projects and programmes throughout the businessAgree and define processes for the approval of projects, the development and definition of programmesSupport investment processes and the development of business cases, ensure that we comply with and dovetail into corporate investment cyclesDefine reporting and control mechanisms, base line, and track deliveryImplement and agree tooling required to ensure and build structureManage reporting from projects using multiple delivery methods from agile software development to large scale construction projectsTo support the organisation in monitoring its capacityTo support workshops to drive programme definition to link and understand dependencies between projectsTo define critical paths and decencies between projects and workstreams that contribute to organisational objectivesTo ensure that the mechanisms are in place to track and monitor benefit deliveryTo act and build a centre of expertise with regards to project and programme managementTo support programme and project managers with training and directionTo intervene and analyse projects that are in difficultiesTo support and define processes end to endEssentialMSP, Prince2, agile or other project management qualificationsAt least 5 years’ experience of large-scale programmes with multi-million budgets as a programme managerDemonstrate considerable success in delivery of complex programmes in leveraged environments and using multiple partnersExperience leading a PMO team across complex businessExpert knowledge of project/programme management tools and techniques specifically reporting, governance and assuranceExpert knowledge PMO software packagesExperience of creating Programme Management functions ideally from a low baseKnowledge of executive decision making and business management processesAbility to work independently and collaboratively with business and technology colleaguesWorking with customers, including where customers are part of virtual teamsExperience of building PMO and managing teams of programme and project managersBuild and management of governance structure, reporting and meeting developmentExperience of working with and influencing SRO for large scale projectsExperience of presenting, building, and justifying business casesExperience of highlighting poor performance poor practice and remediatingFor more information on this opportunity please contact at retained recruitment partner Adam Pearson at Imperial Recruitment Group.
