We are looking for an ambitious and talented individual with a passion for numbers and a clear ambition to build a successful career as a Qualified Accountant.
This position has developed predominately to support our group statutory and regulatory reporting team, however you will also have the opportunity to gain experience within other areas of our finance team on an ad-hoc basis, giving you a broad range of knowledge and experience. Throughout your time in this role not only will you gain substantial knowledge of what it takes to be a successful finance professional, you will also gain first-hand experience of how a finance department interacts with the wider business and the crucial impact and significance you can make to the business.
When you join Ecclesiastical Insurance, you will receive a tailored induction and full training and support will be provided to you throughout your time in the role. We will provided study support for you to complete a relevant accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) and become a Qualified Accountant. We will work with you to enable you to reach your development goals and in return, we expect you to bring the commitment and drive to add significant value to the Group.

Key accountabilities

  • Supporting the annual statutory reporting and statutory audit process
  • Participating in the research and implementation of new and updated accounting standards
  • Supporting with annual regulatory returns including quantitative reporting templates and narrative reports
  • Support the Group’s statutory audit process and interaction with our statutory auditors
  • Preparation of VAT returns, IPT returns and PRA solvency submissions
  • Monthly investment reconciliations
  • Support submission of annual Corporation tax returns
  • Ad hoc project work and support for other areas of the business

Essential skills & requirements

  • A degree qualification (or equivalent), ideally in a numerate subject or in a discipline that demonstrates your analytical skills.
  • A track record of success and achievement in education, work experiences or extra-curricular activities/volunteering to date. We are looking for a demonstration of where you have taken on extra responsibility, delivered in challenging circumstances and shown your ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Strong numerical ability.
  • Analytical skills and critical reasoning.
  • Highly effective communication (both in writing and verbally) and organisation skills.
  • Propensity to learn and apply learning in the work place.
  • Effective planning and prioritisation skills – balancing multiple deliverables to agreed quality standards.
  • Strong relationship building skills and the ability to lead teams.
  • Proficient IT skills in MS Office and Excel
