The Role
  • No two days are the same and your responsibilities will range from supervising the provision of care and support provided at both our Extra Care schemes in Paignton.
  • Your responsibilities will range from developing effective working relationships, liaising with housing and healthcare professionals, updating relevant colleagues of changes to Service Users’ conditions / circumstances, supporting with the staff rota on a weekly basis, partaking in regular Needs & Risk Assessments, spot checks, staff reviews / appraisals and Client Support Planning. You will be monitoring, measuring and delivering outcome-based re-abling care and support according to the company’s ethos and will be supporting Managers with Housing and Activity tasks and prevention against abuse.
  • The role is available on a Full-Time basis, between Monday to Sunday, on a shift-basis.
  • Please note that the business is open during bank holidays and so we would need you to work on some bank holidays. Any bank holidays that you do work will be added back into your accrued holiday and can be taken at another time.
The Teams
  • Our Extra Care schemes are located in Paignton (Whitley Court)
  • Whitley Court is located within a 15-minute journey to Paignton bus station. There is free on-the-road parking available within a 2 to 3-minute walk from the scheme.
  • The scheme offers a (shared) communal staff room with all the facilities (including free tea and coffee!) needed for lunch and rest breaks.
  • We have an interesting mix of clients in the scheme and we offer support for clients with mental health, dementia, hoist / physical disability and general care to promote independent living.
About You
  • We are ideally looking for previous experience of supervision in a residential / domiciliary care setting
  • A formal care qualification, such as QCF/ NVQ Level 2 or 3, would be beneficial
  • You will be able to plan, allocate and evaluate the workload of all staff
  • Your skills will include Quality Control System management, Contractual compliance management, Induction / Training programme implementation, Needs & Risk Assessment and Support Planning
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and are naturally emphathic, with an ability to maintain effective working relationships with your colleagues and with clients.
  • It is important that you are patient and even-tempered, naturally able to cope with pressure or change
  • Good negotiation, financial management, planning and organisational skills would also benefit you in this role.
  • Please note that you will need an Enhanced DBS check in order to provide care support. We can accept a DBS from the Update Service or assist you with a check
  • We offer a competitive salary of £9.25 per hour
