In Waters, the Informatics group produce software that is used by people worldwide for specialist measurement and scientific analysis.

We are currently seeking an Technical Lead - Site Reliability to lead our Site Reliability Engineering team from a technical perspective to drive enhancements in our adoption of Cloud infrastructure, maintaining monitoring and alerting tooling, and maintain continuous delivery pipelines.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the design and maintenance of a “one-click” deployment pipeline using a combination of Terraform and Spinnaker on Kubernetes.
  • Lead the design and evolution of a secure, scalable, operationally robust infrastructure (primarily on AWS).
  • Drive continuous improvement to the build and deployment process.
  • Develop and improve our monitoring and observability tooling.
  • Oversee maintenance of the development, staging and production environments and deployments.
  • Empower and enable your delivery teammates by helping them help themselves.
  • Support production platforms and assisting in incident support
Qualifications

What will make you a successful SRE Tech Lead at Waters:
  • Experience of technically leading high performing software engineering teams
  • Hands on experience of setting up monitoring for critical infrastructure and applications.
  • Hands on implementation of monitoring stack for availability and performance, leveraging monitoring tools such as Data Dog, AppDynamics, Nagios etc and configuring alerts for early failure detection.
  • Excellent Kubernetes administrative hands-on skills especially managing and maintaining workflows
  • Highly experienced in distributed technologies & repos like Github, Bitbucket.
  • Excellent understanding of public cloud technologies (API GW, Route53, ACM , RDS/AWS DynamoDB, AWS Redshift, ElasticCache, EKS, AWS Cloudwatch)
  • Able to work effectively with various functions (Dev, Platform, Ops & release teams)
  • Highly experienced in building continuous integration / delivery pipelines
  • Host networking – subnets/routing, firewalls, DNS/DHCP
  • Ability to demonstrate the design and support of a robust build, deployment and configuration management system for multi-tier applications
The following criteria are desirable, but are not essential since training will be provided for you:
  • Agile software development for iterative product delivery
  • IoT / GreenGrass
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as C#.NET, Java, Python
  • Atlassian Jira, Bamboo, Confluence & JFrog Artifactory
  • Software security implementation (e.g. OWASP, PKI, X509 Certificates, TLS)
  • Software development for regulated environments (e.g. IVD / Medical devices)
