Oxfordshire County Council is committed to children’s social care. That’s not just something we say; it’s what we do and who we are.

About us

We’ve been consistently rated as “good” by Ofsted but we are not content to leave it there - we are ambitious for an even better service. At a time when many local authorities are seeing financial cuts, Oxfordshire is seeing significant investments into children’s social care, specifically for frontline services and the implementation of a new, transformational model - Family Solutions Plus (FSP).

About the role

We are looking for a Team Support Officer to provide administrative support to our Social Workers and Team Managers in Banbury.

Team Support Officers are crucial in supporting our social workers to work effectively to deliver outstanding services to local children and families in your community.

Team Support Officers will support our social workers directly, building excellent working relationships with professionals and members of the public and providing efficient and first-class customer service. Strong IT skills are essential as you’ll be uploading and analysing data regularly.

You will be answering telephone calls, diary management, financial processes, team inbox management and some minuting requirements.

We can offer flexible working, enabling our Team Support Officers to partly work from home but there will be a requirement to attend the office and be expected to travel.

We have a dedicated training and induction plan for all new starters where we will develop your knowledge, skills and expertise in business administration in order for you to be successful in your role.

About you

You will be a person who can build excellent working relationships with professionals and members of the public. You will be a highly organised individual, with good IT skills and will be able to provide efficient first-class customer service to all users of the Service.

Rewards and benefits

It really is true that every single job role here contributes to bettering the lives of the people in our county - we want to do this for our employees too. We are proud of our strong flexible working culture, including the opportunity for flexibility on working hours and the use of technology to support agile working. We offer some of the very best learning and development opportunities to support your ongoing development.

We have a generous holiday allowance which rises as you remain in employment with us up to 32 days, as well as giving you the option to buy additional holiday. You will also have access to a Local Government Pension Scheme with employer contributions of up to 19.9% of your salary; a range of local and national retail discounts; and a host of enhanced family friendly policies including carers leave and paid time off for volunteering.
