The Role – Team LeaderThis excellent opportunity involves managing a team of Practitioners delivering Dependency and Recovery Services to adult male prison leavers and those on community orders within the Probation services.On a daily basis you will be allocating caseloads, managing a small number of complex cases, supporting and developing your team, and ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met. You will be responsible for delivering on performance targets set by Forward Trust and Commissioners. You will also support the Service Manager to ensure data accuracy and data submission deadlines are met.ResponsibilitiesThis role involves leadership, and people and service management, quality and safety, and administration. Duties include:
  • Building strong relationships with colleagues in the Probation Delivery Unit, making full use of support offered by your line manager and Head Office functions.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and prison governors, by representing Forward at regular meetings.
  • Supporting individual development needs for direct reports, providing quarterly line management and probation reviews as a minimum.
  • Ensuring all interventions are delivered to the required standards by facilitating observed practice sessions, carrying out file checks and providing constructive feedback.
  • Supporting effective case load management.
  • Motivating the team to ensure KPIs are met and managing team performance.
  • Working closely with HR and the Service Manager to ensure all concerns are escalated to the Senior Operations Manager.
  • Leading by example in self-care, including use of therapy allowance.
  • Overseeing and ensuring effective management of the service.
  • Compiling the service rota and share with all colleagues in the team.
  • Attending daily meetings and chair monthly team meetings.
  • Encouraging e-integrated ways of working with partners.
  • Managing resources effectively to meet targets and deadlines in accordance with contractual standards.
  • Carrying out risk and initial/comprehensive assessments.
  • Carrying regular service audits.
  • Effectively manage information, particularly confidential information, within statutory duties and in accordance with best practice.
  • Compiling data reports for Prime/Commissioner to evidence meeting contractual targets.
  • Some flexibility of delivery may be required within the role.
Person Specification – Team Leader
  • Previous experience in managing teams, performance and development.
  • A qualification in Management at Level 3, or experience in a comparable role.
  • Experience in key relationship management both internally and externally.
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing formal procedures and policies.
  • Knowledge of the issues facing service users in the criminal justice sector.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing high caseloads, carrying out risk/ comprehensive assessments, SMART action plans and effective case records.
  • Previous experience of working in a 12 step primary care programme is desirable.
  • Experience of working within the criminal justice sector is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the Recovery Agenda is desirable.
