Five Education are working with an excellent school in Somerset, recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA). This role is to work with a pupil who has a condition that affects their mobility. The pupil occasionally uses a wheelchair but can walk between lessons. The LSA role will involve in-class support and assisting the child to fulfil their school timetable. The right person will be patient, warm and quick-thinking. If you can demonstrate both initiative and good interpersonal skills, then this role may be perfect for you. Working closely with the teaching staff, you will support the pupil during the day with their lessons and getting around the school. This work is one-to-one, working with one identified pupil. However, at times, there will be a need for you to work with a small group of children; for example to help with reading. If you have experience supporting children with physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy or similar, then please contact us for an informal chat. This role is due to start in September and could be ongoing until the Christmas break. Duties of the role:* Work with the teaching staff to adapt the subject to suit the needs of the pupil.* Enable and support the pupil to attend their timetabled sessions, assisting with their movement around the school site.* Work closely with the teaching staff to ensure all lesson objectives and personal goals are achieved.Essential criteria:* Understanding and patient* Adaptable and able to use your initiative * Available to work 5 days a week, 8:30-15:30* Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa)* At least one recent child-based reference and relevant DBS/ Police checksDesirable criteria:* 6 months of recent experience supporting children with SEND or vulnerable young adults.
