Position Description:

This position will be part of the UK tax team and will be responsible for providing tax support for Danaher’s UK and Irish operating and holding companies, including tax planning, tax governance, US and IFRS tax accounting and reporting. The position will also maintain close contact with operating companies to gain a full understanding of the businesses, providing advice and guidance necessary to ensure compliance with the relevant laws, obtaining external advice where necessary.

This position will be an integral part of Danaher’s international and highly competent team of tax experts and a dynamic and international company with great opportunities to develop personally and professionally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The candidate will work closely with the the UK tax team and report to the Director – UK and Ireland Tax with the following responsibilities:

Tax Advisory and Planning
  • Review and implement proposed transactions including potential acquisitions, disposals and internal reorganisations.
  • Review and implement rationalisation of the corporate structure and associated elimination of dormant companies.
  • Keep up to date with major tax regulation changes and advise management accordingly.
  • Maintain close contact with key financial managers at the operating companies to build an understanding of the business, financial statements and forecasts in order to advise on any proposed transactions and identify areas of tax risk/opportunity.
Tax Governance
  • Perform internal reviews of the operating companies’ processes to ensure the effective management of taxes.
  • Manage the senior accounting officer review, coordinating around 25 operating companies.
  • Build relationship with HMRC and support/lead in dealing with Corporation tax and indirect tax reviews and audits from the tax authorities.
  • Review of a number of compliance areas including CFC review.
Tax Reporting
  • Manage and review US GAAP reporting at soft close and hard close, coordinating the completion of all Tax Provision Packages for operating and holding companies, and review and report out of overall UK group position.
  • Review and report on quarterly tax forecasts.
  • Review of FIN 48 questionnaires and packages.
Critical Success Factors:
  • Must be able to build excellent working relationships with operating company finance managers, advisors, auditors as well as Danaher corporate tax, treasury and finance colleagues.
  • Ability to embrace the Danaher Culture and the five core values and continually strive for improvements in all aspects of the role.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • ACA or CTA qualified, with minimum 4 years post qualification.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of UK tax law.
  • Strong tax reporting skills preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure, manage multiple projects, and adhere to deadlines.
  • Good communication, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong technology skills, including the Microsoft suite of Applications, and willingness to embrace new technologies.
