Position Description

We’re looking for an Indirect Tax Accountant to join our Tax team based in our Guildford head office. This is an exciting time for us, as we look to consolidated our team to manage the responsibility of providing Tax expertise to Allianz UK Group.

You’ll either be part qualified/newly qualified with experience in indirect taxation matters, looking to build on your qualification with a career in a large blue chip organisation, or have solid experience working within an in-house tax team in an indirect tax role.

In this Indirect Tax Accountant role, you’ll contribute significantly towards delivering a high performing central tax function for the whole Allianz UK Group. Primarily this is an indirect tax (VAT/IPT) role but you will also be involved in other tax matters to help the team ensure all corporate and indirect tax matters are maintained, assisting with employment tax matters as required and fulfilling tax reporting and acting as a trusted advisor and expert to your business stakeholders. You’ll also have the opportunity to use your expert knowledge in wider corporate projects, tax risk management activities and assisting with automation opportunities.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Prepares and submits VAT returns and payments using automated software within statutory deadlines
  • Prepares and submits IPT returns and payments within statutory deadlines
  • Prepares, submits and obtains agreement (by HMRC) of all other relevant tax returns and payments within statutory deadlines
  • Maintains compliance records and documentation to support all of the required tax filings and payments.
  • Fulfils all tax reporting requirements of the group and locally ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Maintains tax accounts and balances for the relevant entities responsible for.
  • Provides support in respect of data analytical review of filings
  • Provides support in respect of tax advisory matters or specific tax projects.
  • Proactively involved in implementing and maintaining best practice in respect of tax risk management and SAO processes.
  • Keeps up-to-date with tax technical matters and communicates relevant tax matters to the business as required.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with internal stakeholders, advisors and tax authorities.

Skills & Experience

Skills & Experience:
  • Part or fully qualified in ATT/ACA/CTA with a background in either an in-house indirect tax role or private practice/consultancy professional tax service companies is an advantage
  • We will consider applications from those without these qualifications if you can demonstrate proven experience in a relevant tax or finance role with the desire to work towards tax qualifications.
  • Experience of indirect tax compliance is an advantage
  • Experience in corporation tax, tax reporting, employment tax matters and tax risk management is an advantage
  • Experience of accounting systems such as SAP and / or tax specialist software is an advantage
  • Experience in automating processes, data analytics and robotics is an advantage
  • Excellent Word and Excel skills
