Following a success bid to the new Capability Fund, North Yorkshire County Council is seeking to recruit a temporary Sustainable Travel Officer on a 12 month contract. This post will be based in County Hall, Northallerton, but will also require travel throughout the county. We anticipate that the post holder will work from home for part of their normal working week. Some weekend working may be required.

The core focus of this job is to provide specialist advice to schools and the public to promote and enable more active and sustainable travel choices, with a focus on travel planning, publicity and promotions.

The post holder will be expected to work with schools, communities and employers to enable more sustainable and active travel, together with managing a wide range of promotional and publicity activities such as public events, paid for advertising and social media activity.

Partnership working with private and commercial organisations, other council directorates, neighbouring authorities and other public agencies are core to this role.

We are seeking an energetic, competent and confident individual who will win the confidence of their colleagues, partners and customers and have the vision and capability to take the service forward.

We anticipate that the post will commence in Autumn 2021 for 12 months duration. Internal candidates seeking a secondment opportunity are welcome, subject to approval.
