Are you an experienced Maintenance Officer looking for a new challenge? Are you looking for an organisation who has your wellbeing at heart?

Challenging Times, Exciting Opportunities
North Yorkshire County Council is going through a period of great change. We face many challenges as we adapt and evolve our services and review the way we engage with the public and both internal and external customers. We’re also striving to increase productivity and flexibility to ensure we are able to deal with ever changing circumstances.

North Yorkshire County Council has an excellent reputation. In a recent survey, the vast majority of staff stated that they are proud to work here. A major employer in the area, we are able to offer significant self-development and career opportunities for those with the talent and desire to progress.

NYCC are looking to recruit a Maintenance Officer to their Property Services (Hard FM) Department. The service has an ambitious programme to improve the way in which we manage our property and deliver our property services so that we can improve outcomes for our service users. You will take responsibility for management and delivery of maintenance activity, through our contractor / supplier frameworks on a broad range of the managed property portfolio including corporate premises, schools and sites managed for other clients. There may be a requirement to oversee minor repair and lifecycle replacement projects which could include the repair and replacement of roof coverings, windows, boiler replacements, electrical upgrades and other relevant schemes of improvement on corporate buildings and school sites.

The Property Maintenance Team is a small, specialist team operating within the Hard FM platform, delivering services across the council and to external clients and customers. Maintenance Officers currently work on a portfolio basis, looking after a particular portfolio of premises, allocated on a mix of criteria based on geographical area and / or specialism. Reporting into the Property Maintenance Manager, there is significant autonomy to self-manage the workload.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate significant knowledge and expertise gained in a similar role/environment.

Applicants should be experienced property professionals who are able to demonstrate the ability to work in an environment of change, with particular experience in any building / construction related discipline including architecture, building surveying or Mechanical & Electrical engineering.

Applicants should also have good numeracy, literacy and communication skills as well as some experience in a customer / client facing role.

In addition to your salary we offer a range of great benefits to help you financially make life a little easier. From childcare vouchers, travel loans, shopping and gym discounts to name but a few you can find more information on the range of benefits we offer within our Total Rewards brochure. For those thinking of moving to North Yorkshire we can also offer relocation allowance (subject to eligibility).

Whilst the post base would be Northallerton, we positively encourage flexible working and we provide you with the technology you need to work from a wide variety of locations whether that be other work bases within the County or from home.

North Yorkshire is a beautiful place to live and work, and the Council is proud of its high calibre staff and services. England’s largest county, it includes the stunning Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors National Parks, three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Pennines and a picturesque coastline around Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. We have cultural market towns such Harrogate, Thirsk, Ripon & Northallerton; offering the best of the modern and tradition, there really is something for everyone.

Enhanced Level DBS Disclosure is required for appointment to this post.

If you wish to speak to someone about this post please contact Michael Adams, Property Maintenance Manager on Tel: 07980 013836 or Ian Hardy, Hard FM Manager on Tel 07870 485764.
