Mencap are recruiting for passionate Support Workers to join our dedicated team in the Rushcliffe area.

We can be flexible with the number of hours offered and will consider applications from all interested candidates, who are positive and motivated to make difference in the lives of the people we support.

What does a Support Worker do?

As a Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will help to ensure the people, we support live a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life.

You will have excellent communication skills, and be a naturally caring and patient person.

General responsibilities may include:

• Supporting people to live independently.
• Personal care - wellbeing & Hygiene
• Assisting with medication.
• Support managing finances.
• Household duties.
• Organising appointments.
• Cooking delicious healthy meals.

Excellent communication skills and Relationship building is also important, as supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships is key to developing and maintaining positives outcomes.

Community & Social Inclusion - supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.

The shifts will be spread across mornings, afternoons, evenings and sleep ins, weekends and bank holidays. You will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £61.20 for any sleep in shifts carried out. The payment for sleep ins is non-contractual.
