This is an exciting opportunity to join our Clinical Immunology and Allergy team, based at Queens Medical Centre.

You will be working as part of a team providing high quality audio typing and clerical duties for the department, working closely with the Specialty Medical PAs. Along with the administrative staff, the team consists of Consultants, Specialist Registrars, Nurse Specialists.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for audio typing and transcription of clinical correspondence, along with the booking of appointments, clinics and speaking to patients.

You will be to demonstrate good spelling, punctuation and grammar. Knowledge of medical terminology would be an advantage, but is not essential.

You will deputise for the specialty PA during holiday periods, so need to be confident in speaking to patients, prioritising workloads and responding to deadlines. You will be able to use your own initiative and respond to queries appropriately.

You will have experience in the use of computer systems including Microsoft Office and Word. Experience of hospital systems including Winscribe, Medway PAS, NOTIS and CRIS would be desirable, but not essential as training will be given.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RSA II typing /word processing or equivalent experience
  • 4 GCSE’s or equivalent C or above – must include English
Desirable criteria
  • Computer literate to ECDL standard or equivalent.

Experience/ Skils

Essential criteria
  • Proven audio typing experience
  • Proven admin experience
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office and Outlook
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working for the NHS
  • Experience of using NHS systems eg Medway PAS and Notis
  • Medical terminology

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.

Consent:

  • Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Departmentconfidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£45 for enhanced and £28 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
