How you’ll make a difference

In this exciting role you will support StreetCare Senior Managers to take a proactive approach to engaging with residents and communicating change, which will help manage resident expectations of changes, reduce customer contact and help embed the changes.
What will you be doing?
  • You will be working in the Strategic Communications team, supporting the Streetcare, Transport and Waste teams to help develop, deliver, and evaluate communications campaigns.
  • In this role you will undertake campaign management, copywriting, support the reactive and proactive media relations, internal communications and digital content management. You will also be supporting the response to media enquiries and undertaking copywriting for email newsletters, social media content and other materials, under the supervision of the Communications Manager.
  • On a daily basis you will be liaising with other disciplines across council departments to gather information and news, establishing and maintaining a positive, proactive working relationships with internal and external customers. This will involve delivering internal staff communications materials at both corporate, organisational and individual departmental levels, supporting external stakeholder and partner engagement activities.
  • It will be your responsibility to prepare and update detailed project plans, budgets and reports, and to undertake campaign measurement and evaluation, against agreed communications objectives and strategy.

What we need from you

  • You must have proven experience in communications, PR or journalism in similar roles and delivering communications campaigns.
  • You’ll be educated to degree level or equivalent, or able to demonstrate equivalent level of theoretical knowledge and hold or be working towards relevant professional qualification.
  • You must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills to maintain effective working relationships at all levels and experience of working with other external stakeholders.
  • We require you to have sound copywriting skills, with an eye for detail, for a range of audiences and purposes and experience of event organising.
  • You will be experienced at reputation management, raising the profile and awareness of an organisation and its objectives.
