Role overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor based at our Spar / Shell Garage store on Birchwood Ave. This role is for a minimum 40 hours a week, you will need to work a mix of mornings (5.30 am starts), mid’s, and late’s (11 pm Finishes) including weekends on a rota basis. Will be required to work extra shifts when needed.

The applicant will be someone who likes to have fun hard working with a team and is passionate about offering excellent service and standards to our customers.

We are looking for someone who is motivated, friendly, hands-on and enjoys working in retail.

Hickson’s is a family business operating three stores in Lincoln and North Hykeham. Beginning as a butchers in 1903 we have grown into three fast paced SPAR convenience stores offering everything from newspapers & groceries to fuel and Subway.

Responsibilities

As a Supervisor, you’ll be at the forefront of our business. Leading by example, you’ll help set the pace that inspires your team to get involved and share ideas that keep your store at its best for our customers. You’ll be helping the Store management with the day to day operations, always making sure that the store is presentable to a high standard of trading.

• To assist in maximising sales and profit by carrying out allocated tasks in order to contribute to the continuous improvement of the store and staff and provision of friendly, efficient service to customers, colleagues and visitors
• To deliver customer service in line with SPARkling Service standard
• To be fully aware of Key Result Areas and assist in working to deliver and improve them
• To contribute ideas for driving the business and it’s team forward
• To assist in developing a motivated and empowered team through a positive management style
• To use relevant processes and policies to ensure the security of people, stock and cash
• Report all customer complaints to manager on duty
• To comply with relevant legislation and health and food safety responsibilities as defined in the induction period and training
• Will be required to work evenings and weekends on a rota basis.
• As a keyholder, you’ll be responsible for Opening and Closing the store and we’ll look to you to ensure it is always safe and secure. Therefore, flexibility is key.

Skills/Experience

• Basic education (numeracy and literacy)
• NVQ Level 2-3 in Retail Skills, Customer Care or similar is preferred but not essential
• APLH (Award for Personal License Holder) is desirable
• Previous experience in a similar role and/or industry is preferred
• Reliably follows instructions and procedures
• Some understanding of health and food safety and legislative responsibilities of a retail environment and the skills to assist with those responsibilities
• Ability to contribute ideas for driving the business and it’s team forward
• Experience of using a Challenge 25 policy desirable
• Keen and enthusiastic approach to working both in a team and independently
• Previous cash handling experience is preferred but not essential

Salary: £10.25 per hour
