OCCMC (International Business Development, Client Coverage, Marketing and Communications) is a distinct UK Export Finance Division reporting directly to the Chief Executive. The Marketing & Communications (M&C) Directorate plays a vital role in building and protecting UKEF’s brand and reputation, raising awareness with audiences in the UK and internationally, and generating leads. Marketing and Communications is a dynamic, multi-disciplined and fast paced team with an ambitious agenda ahead.

About the Role

The stakeholder engagement and external affairs team act as trusted advocates and advisors, proactively engaging in regular dialogue with multiple external stakeholders and internally within UKEF and wider government, to build alliances and partnerships, raise awareness of UKEF, influence decision-makers, and generate business leads. The team is responsible for mapping, tracking, and engaging with stakeholders on an ongoing basis, using insight to understand who we should engage with and how, and building a global network of brand advocates for UKEF.

This is a newly expanded team, and the role will report to the Head of Stakeholder Engagement and External Affairs, within the Marketing and Communications division.
They will support the management of a set of influential strategic partners and senior leaders on a daily basis and drive mutually beneficial, outcomes-based objectives with these key partners. They will co-ordinate activity and stakeholders across UKEF, including government, financial?institutions (FI’s), non-banking financial institutions (NBFI’s), business representative organisations (BRO’s), trade associations (TA’s), international chambers of commerce, and professional services firms. They will support virtual and in-person meetings and activities, conduct research, write correspondence, and draft briefing submissions required for senior leadership, UKEF’s CEO and ministerial meetings.

The role requires the job holder to multitask and manage multiple industry relationships, engagements, and activities at any one time. They will be required to be highly organised to plan meetings, events, with an acumen to document key discussions and actions for delivery. You will be a strong communicator to proactively influence and collaborate with UKEF’s external, internal, and other government department stakeholders. As a stakeholder engagement manager, you will maintain a strategic relationship with UKEF’s select partners to develop a value-based partnership proposition for delivery of key delivery objectives. The role requires the job holder to have a business focussed acumen including an ability to grasp product information to help understand complex technical issues related to the market gaps in the offer of export finance required for international trade and investments. You will be required to document and record details of engagements in UKEF’s ‘customer relationship management -CRM system’ along with evaluating, monitoring, and reporting qualitative data.

Responsibilities

Main Activities

  • Manage UKEF’s engagement with key stakeholders to build and protect reputation, and influence key partners and decision makers
  • Gather insight on potential stakeholders/groups to inform decision making about how we engage
  • Conduct stakeholder mapping with an agreed set of objectives for each stakeholder (e.g., Banks, Trade Associations, other membership firms, etc.) based on UKEF’s goals.
  • Conduct research, horizon scanning and evidence-based market intelligence and gaps on product and policy issues which pose as potential barriers and challenges for UK business growth and their international trade

  • Act as a point of contact for our stakeholders, industry bodies and partners and develop relationships with key decision-makers
  • Develop a deep understanding of policy and political landscape and upcoming activity
  • Gather and share intelligence internally and externally where appropriate on policy changes and government activity, working closely with UKEF’s strategy team
  • Understand and build knowledge on UKEF’s product proposition
  • Develop and support working relationships internally with teams and decision makers across UKEF, DIT, other government departments, and related partners
  • Develop content and creative, impactful material to reach target audiences, such as newsletters, videos, email, speeches, ministerial briefings, presentations etc.
  • Work alongside the wider Marketing and Communications team to plan and implement campaigns, events, outreach, workshops, webinars, mail campaigns, social media, etc. and ensure a strong public voice on key
issues.
  • Support UKEF’s Annual Forum and Supplier Fairs through key stakeholder engagement
  • Create standard formats for communications (e.g. call reports, briefings, letters, member survey) and manage correspondence and logging of discussions and enquiries
  • Record Meetings and other engagement reports on daily basis in CRM System-Salesforce and maintain progress trackers and escalate/highlight issues or any signs of reputation risk
  • Co-ordinate with Business Intelligence Unit (BIU) and use other Analytics to Measure outcomes against partner objectives
  • Work with UKEF leadership to support their wider growth strategies across key regions and sectors in the UK.
