Permanent Post of Specialty General Manager – Theatres and Anaesthesia

Based across both Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) and Nottingham City Hospital (NCH)

We are advertising an incredible opportunity to become a Specialty General Manager (SGM) within Theatres and Anaesthesia (T&A). We are looking for a dynamic , enthusiastic, out-of-the-box thinking individual to join the well established Specialty Management Team. As one of two SGM’s within T&A , you will be responsible and accountable for the operational management and performance of the function providing strong visible leadership in partnership with the Heads of Service and matrons, driving through ambitious targets to continually improve operational and financial performance.

You will be expected to respond to urgent deadlines and will be confident in working on your own initiative and under pressure in an ever changing, fast-moving environment. You will have excellent problem-solving skills and an open, adaptable “can do” attitude. You will need to be confident, articulate and have a good understanding of the clinical pressures. You must be able to demonstrate experience of managing and delivering challenging targets within a healthcare environment, strategic thinking and evidence of delivery of improvement to clinical services.

  • Experience within the Healthcare sector at a management level including project management, business planning, change management, multidisciplinary working, financial management, human resource management, performance management
  • Evidence of having achieved challenging healthcare/business targets
  • Experience of supporting programmes of change in a complex organisation

  • First degree or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of other specialist management training to diploma level

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

The system will run a check against the key security features within your documentation. The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.

Consent:

  • Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Departmentconfidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£45 for enhanced and £28 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
