Solicitor - Commercial Contracts

How you’ll make a difference

As an experienced legal advisor you will carry out the work of a Solicitor in the Legal Services Division, with particular emphasis on all aspects of commercial contract work to include procurement, negotiating, drafting and advising on terms and conditions of contracts, agreements, MoU etc. You will provide legal advice and support on a wide variety of major corporate projects such as waste contracts, commercial contracts, social care and health arrangements,

What will you be doing

  • On a daily basis you will support a busy team to ensure the effective delivery of legal advice on commercial contract work which will include procurement, negotiating, drafting and advising on terms and conditions.
  • You will be providing expert and wide ranging legal support on a wide variety of major corporate projects such as waste contracts, commercial contracts (including advising on contractual disputes), social care and health arrangements. In the role you will also provide legal advice on Freedom of Information and Environmental Information Regulations, giving advice on the application of public interest test and exemptions and offer advice on all aspects of data protection.
  • It will be your responsibility to represent the Legal division at meetings, including providing g a at Committees, Sub Committees & Panels, including Regulatory and Licensing (taxi, alcohol and street trading).

What we need from you

  • You will be a qualified and registered solicitor with significant relevant professional experience, have a Law degree or a general degree and Common Professional Examination and Law Society’s Professional Examination.
  • It is essential that you have a sound understanding of Commercial Contract Law, Freedom of Information/Environmental Information Regulations and knowledge of Data Protection,
  • You must have a demonstrable experience of managing a caseload and In the role you will need to be able to work with limited support and supervision and work as part of a team under pressure within tight timescales and have the ability to build and maintain positive working arrangements with colleagues, clients and all other relevant parties.
  • You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and effective IT skills.
