Job Description
An exciting vacancy has arisen to join our Maritime Department as a Ship Manager. This is an exciting role at the core of delivering in service support to the P&O Cruises and Cunard Fleets. At a time when we are returning to full guest operations this is a great opportunity to be at the heart of our re-start, and ensure the ships return successfully and delight our guests.
The Role
In this role, you will be fully accountable for ISM Compliance and the material state of 2 complex cruise ships. You will be the principle technical risk owner and the single point of contact for your allocated ships for integrated maritime technical support, working closely with ships staff to ensure operational risks, repairs, maintenance and upgrades are prioritised to meet the overall asset management strategy of the business.
In addition, you will also be responsible for the Operational Leadership of On Board Maritime Maintenance Managers.
You will undertake planning, preparation of specification and project management for ship refits and wet docks for their assigned ships as well as supporting the Fleet Leadership Team in identifying and delivering efficient and effective strategies to deliver business and vessel performance as required against targets and KPIs ensuring risk management at all times.
You will be part of the provision of Ship Team Incident & Emergency Escalation on call rota, ensuring 24/7 response capability.
You will be accountable for the Maintenance budget (repair and maintenance, casualty, facilities, and technical R&E) for assigned ships. Management of this budget will include planning, control, and regular forecasting.
About You
To be successful in this role you will need to have a good understanding of the structure and implications of Flag State, USCG and IMO rules and regulations as well as an understanding of good maintenance practice and the application of such on cruise vessels on a worldwide itinerary.
You will have demonstrable experience in the management and operation of a wide and diverse range of marine equipment. Experience serving on board ships in a deck or technical role will be an advantage.
Previous experience of identifying efficiencies, implementing change, and influencing across a complex business to deliver a Maritime agenda is essential.
You will be able to challenge and influence at all levels and have proven experience of leading and managing teams/SMEs, building capability, profile, and approach.
You will have strong organisational, project, financial and commercial skills.
A Degree or equivalent in a suitable marine discipline is desirable.
