Shift Pattern – 4 on 4 off, 2 days and 2 nights

Position Summary

We are looking for a Shift Engineer to join our Nestlé Waters factory at our Buxton site to support the maintenance department. You will be responsible for the implementation and execution of the factory asset maintenance programme, aimed to eliminate unplanned stops and optimise maintenance cost and as a result increase asset intensity.

A day in the life of a Shift Engineer

As a Shift Engineer, you will be a key point of contact for all technical matters on shift across the whole factory. You will be working to drive improvements in the performance of machinery and assets, technically supporting the shift leader and developing the technical skills within the engineering and operational teams.

The factory is moving forward with continuous improvement principles and actively developing TPM processes so it’s an exciting time to be involved, and it is expected that you will play a key part in the move from reactive to proactive maintenance.

Key day to day activities:
  • To work as part of the technical team throughout the shift ensuring work is prioritised in accordance with production plans, schedules and preventative engineering requirements and carry out a comprehensive handover.
  • Responding to breakdowns within the plant, maximising production output and ensuring the smooth flow of the operation.
  • Repairing, reporting and analysis of unplanned technical failures to drive further improvements.
  • Provide technical expertise to reduce both technical and production losses, including coaching and/or participating in problem solving, implementing solutions, sharing knowledge, building competence.
  • Looking after all aspects of cost, efficiency, quality and maintenance activities including administration.
  • Contributing to the upkeep of all relevant technical documentation.
  • Raising purchase orders where required,
  • Liaising with the Maintenance Planner to ensure engineering activities are completed
  • Support External Functions to complete remedial actions from Compliance audits.
What Will Make You Successful

You will have experience within a FMCG environment and be able to demonstrate engineering knowledge across maintenance, industrial services and automation.

Other key attributes:
  • Be educated to a minimum NVQ level 3 in an Electrical Engineering time served apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • 17th or 18th edition wiring regulations is desirable.
  • Experience or appreciation of Instrumentation and Siemens PLC’s.
  • Be able to demonstrate skills working on pneumatics systems, process equipment including gearboxes drives, pumps, valves, and also/or packaging equipment.
  • Demonstrate strong mechanical comprehension.
  • Possess a logical fault finding approach to breakdowns.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of modern manufacturing techniques such as 5S, LEAN and TPM would be ideal.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency whilst never compromising safety or product quality.
