At Buckinghamshire Council we are passionate about our commitment to Social Care and to making a real difference in the lives of our citizens. Right now more than ever.

We know that engaging with, attracting and developing the social care workforce of tomorrow is one of our biggest challenges. If you are passionate about the role of social care in our communities, and about developing the people who deliver our services to their highest potential then the Workforce Development and Training Team want to hear from you.

In April 2020 Buckinghamshire Council became the UK’s newest council and the residents of Buckinghamshire will be served by a single, unitary council.

Buckinghamshire is an ambitious, rapidly growing county, and our economy is one of the strongest in the country. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and ranks as one of the top rural areas to live in the UK and yet it is incredibly well connected– only an hour from London on the train. The county has a rich history and heritage and is the birthplace of the international Paralympic movement.

We are looking for motivated, ambitious and inspiring people to join us on our journey. Not only will you be an integral part of the unique and exciting transition through the unitary process, you will also be entitled to a range of different benefits to make sure you are happy both at work and at home.

In this important senior role you will be based in the Quality, Standards and Performance Division, where our three branches: Workforce Development and Training; Quality and Practice Standards; and Business Modernisation and Innovation combine to drive forward improvements across the delivery of Adult Social Care in Buckinghamshire.

Your role will be focused on raising standards for the internal and external social care workforce, through co-ordinating our county-wide workforce development and qualification programmes. Your role will be central in the planning and delivery of this important improvement programme, in line with annual training needs analysis and our statutory requirements. You will also work closely with our partners through the Buckinghamshire Health and Social Care Academy, and link to the new Integrated Care Systems across our wider locality from 2022.

Please see job summary attached for full details.

You will be bringing your substantial experience of working in the social care sector, preferably as a social and health care professional. You will also have good experience of working in a learning and development environment, and a strong personal commitment to your own continuing learning and development.

You will be working as part of a pro-active and committed team, with workforce specialists and operational managers to address specific training needs. You will bring a creative and modern approach to your work, embracing new technologies and delivery methods to make maximum impact in our work.

If this sounds like the challenge you have been looking for, we will be delighted to hear from you.

Please see job summary attached for full details.

You will be required to apply for a DBS for this role.

Buckinghamshire Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

We reserve the right to close the vacancy once we have received sufficient applications, so please be advised to submit your application as early as possible.

We have a set of values, which our employees have chosen, that represent what we are – Proud, Ambitious, Collaborative and Trustworthy.

By joining Buckinghamshire Council, you can expect:

  • a fair and inclusive culture
  • the chance to really make a difference to those around you
  • health and well-being initiatives including an Employee Assistance Programme, Mental Health First Aiders and mindfulness workshops
  • a unified voice through our Employee Representative Group
  • ongoing support, and the opportunity to develop and progress in your career with us
  • opportunities to take part in fun activities such as fundraising and social events

The majority of Buckinghamshire residents will have contact with our services at some point in their lives. Whether it’s for information and advice, access to a dedicated service or through the work of our trading standards or environmental health teams, we aim to deliver to the highest standard possible.

This is a very exciting time to join our Adult Services and Health directorate, as we join together adult social care, public health, housing and regulatory services for the first time in Council history. Our Better Lives Strategy sets out our ambition to enable people to live independently for longer and reduce dependency on services - something we are keen to focus on over the next year. This new directorate gives us the opportunity to develop an integrated approach to services that will better support our residents. After all, our residents are at the heart of everything we do.

Hard work and success deserves recognition. That’s why we pride ourselves on the benefits we give our people. We actively encourage a good work-life balance and promote flexible and agile working arrangements. We provide discounts on various Cafés, restaurants, shops and auto enrolment onto our generous Pension Scheme. We also offer a salary sacrifice personal car lease scheme and the opportunity to gain membership to Costco. We have discounted gym memberships, Travel discounts with Arriva and Chiltern Railways and much more.
