What To Expect

As the Senior Strategic Buyer youwill have Global responsibility for JLRs long-term strategy for Minor Metals . You will support in analysing, understanding and predicting the economic and political outlook for these globally traded and volatile commodities, which are fundamental to JLRs current production and future decarbonisation targets. You will be responsible for the creation of long-term strategic plans and contract framework agreements for Minor Metals .

Key Roles And Responsibilities

  • You will obtain, understand and track the economic drivers for cost and volatility in global commodity markets. You will develop expertise in pricing structures for commodities through understanding of this macro-economic and political influences on a global scale.
  • You will map and evaluate the risk associated with minor metals across the full value chain through the tiers and its potential impact across the full BOM of the car. You will support the development of mitigation strategies with subject matter experts and report findings and recommendations to our leadership team.
  • You will explore the global supplier market and will engage with key global players along the value chain to understand the mid to long term strategy for these commodities.
  • You will assess CO2e impact associated with your commodity groups and will work closely with our Sustainability team on developing their decarbonisation roadmap.
  • You will develop a wide range of internal stakeholder relationships to ensure strategic alignment, with a special focus on Corporate Strategy, Materials Engineering or Finance.

What You Will Need

  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience
  • An individual with very strong analytical skills, able to help the company problem solve by breaking down information, looking through data and finding patterns, trends and outliers
  • An excellent communicator who can communicate complex ideas to key stakeholders to influence cross functional alignment.
  • An individual with strong presentation skills, able to present and articulate complex issues in a clear and simplistic visual form
  • An individual who is able to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style
  • An individual who is results driven, has tenacity, drive and perseverance, leading the team to deliver strategic plans in a complex, highly demanding environment.
