A truly exciting opportunity to join the Buying team of the exclusive fruit supplier for the UK’s premier supermarket! Reporting to the Commercial Director, this role is a key appointment for the business and will involve extensive International travel. Office based in Evesham for the first 6 months, a hybrid working pattern thereafter. It is essential to have previous fresh produce buying experience. Main responsibilities will include;

  • Source, negotiate and place orders from a given country of responsibility
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with agents and shippers
  • Detailed understanding of the regional industry, customer base/ competitors
  • Develop knowledge of cultural, economic and environmental factors
  • Undertake stock analysis, communicate product availability
  • Negotiate rates with service providers
  • Assess all financial risks in your product category
  • Forecast, monitor and grow profitability in your products
  • Confident representative for the business within the global market
  • Plan forthcoming seasons requirements Personal qualities;
  • Smart appearance
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills are essential
  • Fluency in a second language advantageous
  • Prepared to work with a variety of nationalities
  • Numerical and analytical skills
  • A competent team player
  • Confident, reliable, self-motivated and flexible

  • Experience in a comparable role with a relevant degree
