Job OverviewAn excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic individual, to develop as a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit based in Withybush General Hospital. This is a permanent post and is full time (37.5 hours per week). Part time may be considered.The successful candidate would be responsible for ICU, ensuring efficient and effective managements of the unit. The applicant will ensure patients receive safe, individualised and effective standards of care.You will be required to manage the skill mix of the nursing team and provide advice and clinical leadership to support and develop the nursing team within the department. As the unit leader you will need to display leadership skills and qualities, along with effective management for the nursing team in complex and pressurised situations.The successful candidate must have managerial experience in ITU and experience of effective leadership skills, a Critical Care Qualification and NMC Registration.The successful candidate must have the ability to motivate staff in a professional manner with the ability to lead the team and maintain high standards of care. The candidate must demonstrate willingness to develop leadership and management skills and show ability to respond to change within practice.Effective communication must be demonstrated at all times, along with a calm manner in situations of extreme workload.Main duties of the jobYou will be responsible for providing highly specialist advice and clinical leadership to support and develop the nursing team within the department and specialty.In conjunction with the Senior Nurse Manager develop and review standards of direct nursing care according to research evidence and audit results, ensuring agreed standards of care are delivered to patients within area of responsibility.You will be expected to maintain a safe environment for staff and patients and provide specialist clinical advice within the multidisciplinary team and support services.You will be expected to promote and maintain good working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team and to have knowledge of all Health Board policies and procedures/guidelines relevant to the ward.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.Interviews will be held on 12/06/23Working for our organisationHywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties.
