As a Senior Security Engineer, you are uniquely placed to drive significant improvements within Sainsbury’s, both tactically and strategically. This role helps bring together a view of the risks we face, the capabilities required to mitigate them, and the tooling which can provide this.

You will be able to influence the strategic direction, providing insight on the ever-changing threat landscape and how tooling can be refined to deal with emerging threats.

More About The Role
  • Be hands on with security tooling, implementing and configuring a wide variety of security technologies across the Sainsbury’s group.
  • Perform tuning and configuration of various security tools such as Web application firewalls, Intrusion prevention systems and different network security devices.
  • Identify configuration gaps in existing security capabilities, recommending appropriate improvements.
  • Perform security assessments of different applications, systems and networks and address the security issues identified.
  • Evaluate and assist with implementation of new, emerging and strategic security solutions, and best practice security patterns.
  • Collaborate with the Security Operations Centre to identify emerging threats and determine how best to protect Sainsbury’s.
  • Identify and drive opportunities to adapt security and compliance activities to further enhance the security posture of the organisation, through the use of automated tooling.
  • Assist with the safe adoption of new technologies to enable our Developers and Engineers to deliver at pace.
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders to deliver our security strategy, including Architects, Product Owners, Delivery Managers and Security Analysts.

  • Be an advocate of Information Security both through the IS community and within the rest of the business.
  • A relevant degree in computer science or related discipline, or significant equivalent experience.
  • Strong technical, hands-on experience with a breadth of security tooling, including:Cloud technology, API Security, End point protection, Web Application Firewalls, Data Loss Prevention, Network tooling, Email perimeter tooling & SIEM.
  • A strong understanding of industry frameworks such as NIST, PCI DSS, ISO27001, OWASP.
