About Us

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable planner to join our planning team as the new Senior Planner in the Development Management. The Vale of Glamorgan offers an exciting variety of planning work in a diverse area which boasts beautiful coast and countryside in an attractive place to live and work with strong social and economic links to the wider Cardiff Capital Region.

The Service sits within a Regeneration and Planning Department under the Director of Place. Working in the Development Management team to progress planning applications and appeals.

About The Role

Pay Details: Grade 9 SCP 31 - 35 £35,336 - £39,571

Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours per week (Mon-Fri)

Main Place of Work: Dock Office

Undertaking Development Management and related matters.

About You

You will need:
  • Experience of working within Development Management.
  • Working knowledge of the planning system.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work to agreed deadlines and under pressure.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage a large workload.
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline.
  • Relevant post graduate planning qualification.
  • Eligible for Membership of the RTPI.
  • A commitment to high levels of customer service.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Commitment to good quality outcomes from the development control process.
  • Ability to deal with people in potentially difficult circumstances
  • Ability to drive/travel throughout the Vale or between locations as appropriate.
  • Computer literate and able to use a pc for letters and reports.
