Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Operational Excellence Manager to join our Salads team based at Bourne. With a turnover of £115 million and over 1,200 people employees on site, we specialise in making prepared fruit, dressed salads and stir fry mixes in addition to growing our own bean sprouts.

The Role

This is a real change leadership role focussing on operational excellence with the Bourne Salads business. The Senior Operational Excellence Manager will provide leadership and drive for continuous improvement projects and activities across our site.

The business will be introducing a new Productivity Management System early in 2022 and initially a large part of this role will be to support the implementation of this system from both a hardware perspective and a people development perspective.

Reporting directly into the Head of Operations, you will work alongside the Production Management team to analyse production, wastage and other performance data streams to prioritise, plan and actions process improvements to reach agreed targets across the Site. You will also take ownership of Performance Improvement Plans and ensure that they are delivered to agreed objectives.

Duties will include:

Own & improve the PIP plan with clear milestones (incorporating CI and VA), working cross-functionally to ensure all departments contribute, assist and deliver improvements areas across the business

Ensure PIPs link to the business strategy to ensure improvements continually add value and meet Health & Safety and Quality standards

Work in conjunction with the manufacturing team to ensure operational efficiencies are maximised & practices are constantly fit for purpose

Work in conjunction with the purchasing team to develop & implement PIP plan and understand opportunities to give the best value proposition

Review working practices with customers, suppliers & between departments in order to identify. new ways of working which can add value and/or reduce costs

Ensure mechanisms are in place to drive employee involvement within continuous improvement projects and continually review their effectiveness and explore new options, which link to & support the site engagement plans.

Where possible quantify savings/profit improvements and measure achievement of these improvements against targets

Ensure effective communication with the business to celebrate success and/or promote further engagement with improvement projects

Recommend and support relevant CI training across the business ensuring that value for money is being achieved and that the right colleagues are trained

To develop a data management network of KPI performance to support the site operational team and ensure validation with site financial performance.

About you:

Minimum Foundation level in lean or equivalent and Kaizan or Six Sigma (ideally yellow belt)

Experience of food manufacturing industry (preferably chilled)

Ability to build credible & successful working relationships at all levels within the organisation

Change management experience

Project leadership experience
