Logistics Section Manager
Bakkavor Salads is based in Bourne and specialises in making prepared fruit, leafy salads and stir fry mixes. It employs over 1,100 people and forms part of the Bakkavor Salads sector in the UK.

Bakkavor Salads Bourne is looking to recruit a Logistics Section Manager to pro-actively manage and motivate a shift-based Logistics team, and managing performance to standards in health and safety, food safety, technical guidelines, and good manufacturing practices.

The Role
As Logistics Section Manager you will be responsible for the following:
  • Ensuring that a safe working environment exists for all employees in the operation and that as a minimum the operation meets the standards set out in the Group Health & Safety policy.
  • Maintaining standards of quality, food safety, hygiene, and housekeeping within your area through Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) to ensure that both Business and customer standards are delivered, and audit requirements are fully met.
  • Pro-actively drive the training & development of all levels of team. Actively coach, develop, recruit and train team members to the required level of competence to encourage continuous improvement, and team engagement and retention.
  • Managing the performance of all team members using Bakkavor performance management systems and, if necessary, to impose disciplinary sanctions in accordance with Company policy through to dismissal stage.
  • Ensuring the delivery of agreed KPIs across the operation through the team, making sure that KPIs are understood and utilised to support performance improvement plans and day to day activities. Making sure systems are in place to collect the necessary data to measure performance against the agreed KPIs.
  • Planning, organising, and measuring of labour and material requirements within their area to ensure that agreed targets are met.
  • Ensuring that the team in their area is well informed on relevant business news and to encourage effective cross-functional links and that channels of communication are clear and available.
  • Encouraging the Bakkavor values and a positive culture, whilst fostering good employee relations through fair, consistent, and effective people management.

About you
To be successful in this role you will need to be a positive and motivated team player that possesses strong leadership skills and drive the development of the team. The role requires you to pay attention to detail and to think on your feet making logical and sensible decisions to ensure the smooth running of the department.

Ideally you will have previous logistics experience, communication skills are key to this role as well as having good IT skills for gathering data, tracking KPI’s etc. Building strong relationships with other areas of the business is important as you will have regular meetings and interaction with the wider business including other Supply Chain functions, Operations and Technical.
