Senior Network Engineer

About the role

We are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Network Engineer to work within the Information Services (IS) department at Northumbrian Water and Essex & Suffolk Water. Reporting to the Networks & Connectivity Service Manager you will be responsible for designing and implementing network services across our data, voice and security platforms.

We are passionate about customer service so you will monitor and maintain our network, ensuring we deliver a reliable, secure and efficient network. In the event of incidents, you will respond and manage these to resolution whilst demonstrating a strong customer focus and excellent inter-personal skills.

In addition, you will manage 3rd party service providers to ensure we receive value for money and that any downtime or disruption is minimised. You will also be comfortable working alone or as part of a team, leading when required.

About you

You’ll have proven experience managing data, security and voice network products and services. You’ll also have worked with critical network infrastructure within enterprise scale datacentres.

The right candidate will have experience working in an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) environment with Terraform and will be comfortable working with different cloud services, including Azure, OCI and AWS.

We are looking for you to have experience designing and implementing WAN architectures and having worked with LAN/WAN enterprise monitoring solutions.

You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of routing protocols, be certified CCNP/CCNA (Routing & Switching and/or Data Centre) and have experience supporting wired and wireless networks.

The successful candidate will have excellent problem solving skills and knowledge of network administration and architecture as well as the ability to mentor other team members on technical issues.

Ideally you will have experience of load balancing technologies and an awareness of SIP trunking and IP telephony platforms. We’re also looking for you to have experience in the administration of firewalls and a knowledge of ITIL best practice.

Please note that you will require a full driving licence for this role.
