Digital Infrastructure Team:Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Harwell, Oxfordshire

Salary: £39,748 - £44,166 (dependent on experience)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full time/Part time (minimum 30 hours per week)

The work we do is key to protecting the organisations digital assets to enable the work of the scientific community here. Our investments in new digital capability, innovation and partnerships with industry specialists are globally significant for science and research.

You will be providing expertise in the development, support and maintenance of the full network and communications environment, supported by Digital Infrastructure, including project development to enhance the network and communications environment, complex and minor installations, resolving major incidents and supporting the operations service desk teams.

The Following Criteria Will Be Assessed At Shortlisting
  • A relevant computer science degree (or Higher Education qualification) and / or relevant subject matter and industry experience.
  • Experience of TCP/IP Ethernet networking including managing and configuring Layer 2 and Layer 3 network switches and routers with associated network services such as DNS and DHCP
  • Experience of working with firewalling technologies and VPNs
  • Proven working knowledge of developing, implementing and supporting a significant range of technologies including but not limited to IP routing, network switches and configuration, WiFi and wired networking
  • Able to absorb and convey technical information and communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Able to work on own initiative and supervise others
