Carnival UK has big plans for the future! As a world-leading cruise company, our people are our world. This is where you come in. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager – Risk, Safety and Compliance to join our Maritime Team.

The Role

In this role you will be responsible for managing and overseeing Carnival UK’s (CUK) risk management strategy and ensuring there are effective risk and incident management tools and processes in place. You will ensure risks are identified and to ensure processes are in place to mitigate business and operational risks and ensure lessons learned are implemented and stakeholders fully engaged. This includes the development, implementation and oversight of the Carnival UK’s enterprise and operational risk programme across the business. The role will require close collaboration with IAG and lead on the management of CUK event investigations.

You will be also be responsible for ensuring CUK maintains the functional requirements of a safety management system as required by the ISM code. This includes the management of the Global HESS system, event investigation system and a risk assessment management system necessary to meet the business’s evolving needs and statutory regulations.

In addition you will provide leadership on the oversight of Carnival UK investigations, including the assessment of investigator and SME training needs. Working with operational management to further develop ‘listen and learn culture’ and share best practices, and promoting a safety commitment culture throughout the organisation.

An important element of the role is SME for management of OH&S risks in order to prevent injury to crew, guests, contractors and visitors. To work with key stakeholders to proactively prevent incidents and to minimize the impact to the business following an event.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to have industry specific experience or transferable to the leisure/cruise environment along with experience of maintaining or reaching externally audited management standards such OHSAS 18001/ IS and experience of Corporate Risk Management.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to work with, provide advice to, train, and promote excellence in Occupational Health and Safety along with a proven track record of team management and experience of working with Senior management.

In addition you will have experience in rolling out risk assessment improvement programmes and be competent in workplace risk assessments.

NEBOSH Certificate / Diploma or equivalent and Corporate Risk Management/ Management of Risk qualifications is desirable.
