At Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding, we manage the entire cruise shipbuilding process, from the initial business opportunity to post-delivery warranty, and everything in between for Carnival Corporation, the world’s largest cruise company. Our global team is made up of specialists in naval architecture; outfitting; marine, electrical and safety engineering as well as expert project managers who work together to ensure ships are delivered on time, on budget and to the highest standard.

To enable Corporate Shipbuilding to be the centre of excellence we aspire to be, we are looking for an Engineer, Projects, on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract (FTC), to join the Contract Management Team based in Southampton.

We are looking for an individual who will be able to confidently apply technical expertise to the design, construction, refit and conversion of passenger vessels and the operation of the existing fleet.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Project Manager/Director in managing the technical and architectural design development of the ship and its approval process. Acting as the key interface for all technical aspects of the projects, liaising with the Technical & Asset Management and Site Management Teams on behalf of the Project Manager/Director.
  • Supporting the Project Manager/Director with planning, monitoring, managing and executing of new building and/or other refit and/or conversion projects as initiated by the assigned Project Manager/Director.
  • Coordinating the assessment and approval of scope change (modifications) and track progress of these change requests.
  • Report on internal and external activities progress, identifying criticalities and risks, and produce monthly project status reports on behalf of the Project Manager as requested.

About you:

You will have a qualified degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant technical area. APM or equivalent project management qualification is desirable.

Demonstrable experience within a technical background, in the shipbuilding design or construction process and in using MS Office including MS Project are essential. Experience of working in environments such as shipbuilding, classification societies, ship operators, technical suppliers, or an engineering firm in a position with technical accountabilities, competency in using AutoCAD and/or project management experience would be desirable for this role.
