Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, London, Belfast or Dublin.

Salary: Up to £77,400/€108,600 depending on experience + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

What is the Role?

Our Offshore Engineering Team are playing a key role in the construction of the world’s largest offshore wind farm, situated off the East coast of England, as well as construction of Scotland’s largest offshore wind farm. We are also supporting development of several major offshore wind farm projects across the UK, Ireland and Europe as well as opportunities in Asia Pacific and USA.

SSE Renewables Offshore Engineering have opportunities within our Grid Engineering Team. We are looking for Senior Engineer to coordinate and manage all Grid related issues and opportunities from early project development to Operational handover and beyond for offshore wind generation.

Some Of Your Main Responsibilities Will Include
  • Developing and delivering the grid connection strategy for SSE Renewables offshore projects
  • Grid feasibility assessments and management of the Grid connection process with the Transmission and Distribution companies
  • Acquisition grid due-diligence and auction bid grid support
  • Management of interface with Transmission and Distribution companies for contractual and technical issues
  • Assessment of connection offers and management of TEC and grid securities
  • Achieving and maintaining Grid Code compliance, system study compliance and grid outage management
  • Identifying and applying for ancillary system service contracts to add additional revenue streams
  • Representing SSE Renewables on key industry panels, committees and working groups
What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
  • Knowledge of the existing National Grid ESO and Offshore Transmission Network Review Workstreams
  • Good knowledge of the GB transmission system, its operation and current/future challenges
  • Good technical knowledge and experience within the transmission/ power generation industry
  • Effective organisation capabilities with the ability to deliver quality work to the agreed timescales along with good report writing and interpersonal skills
  • Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of the implications of engineering activities and decisions.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate requirements of relevant standards and codes such as the GB Grid Code and the Connection and Use of System Code (CUSC)
