Job Description

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Sanctions/PEP and Negative Media screening: Assessing and clearing alert escalations for true and unclear hits.
  • Transaction monitoring: Handling escalations from the transaction monitoring team
  • Handling Client Onboarding and Client Periodic Review escalations, providing practical advice on Customer Due Diligence and Enhanced Due Diligence, applying current JMLSG standards and the internal Client Due Diligence Policy and Client Acceptance/Ongoing Monitoring Procedures
  • Supporting the High Risk Client annual review exercise
  • Horizon scanning: identifying financial crime-related regulatory changes and trends and feeding the same in our Regulatory Change Forum
  • Collating Client Due Diligence and transaction records in preparation of Suspicious Activity Reports.
  • Supporting the MLRO with ad hoc reviews on a range of financial crime areas to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of WM UK’s financial crime control framework.
  • Supporting the MLRO with the preparation of regular internal reports (collating MI, updating presentations)
  • Supporting the MLRO in the optimisation and update of existing processes, systems and procedures, including keeping Risk Assessment up to date; developing and delivering financial crime training to staff; testing systems.
  • Providing cover in the absence of the MLRO, notably during annual leave.

Experience, Skills and Competencies Required

  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience with at least 3 years working in a 2LOD financial crime capacity, handling transaction monitoring, sanctions screening and high risk client onboarding/periodic reviews.
  • Practical implementation of JMLSG for private individuals, corporates and Trusts.
  • Good time management and keeping on top of tasks.
  • To be a good fit for this team, you need to be proactive and well organized.

Education and Qualifications

  • Ideally educated to degree level
  • Professional qualifications (e.g. ICA International Diploma in AML) desirable
