The role The Senior Communications Manager sits within CISL’s Corporate Relations, Communications and Marketing team, which contributes to CISL’s long-term growth and strategic impact.

The Senior Communications Manager will help to build and protect CISL’s international reputation for driving change at the highest levels of business, government and finance. The role is central to strategic comms planning, shaping CISL’s communications plans on a range of issues, and raising opportunities and risks with the Institute’s leadership team. It is being advertised at a particularly exciting time for the institute.

CISL has just moved into a new cutting-edge sustainable headquarters in central Cambridge. The Entopia Building will drive collaboration by housing CISL’s staff alongside a community of ambitious sustainability start-ups, researchers, and collaborators, whilst providing an exemplar of innovation as world-leading sustainable retrofit building.

This appointment will mark a step-change in the quality, consistency and impact of our communications ¿ helping CISL to reach wider and more diverse audiences, informing public debate on climate change and nature, and driving change within the economy.

Key skills and experience: ¿ Development of an organisational communication strategy at a senior level. ¿ Leading high-profile integrated creative campaigns (utilising a variety of media including PR, digital and social media) ¿ Knowledge and experience in climate change and sustainability issues especially within business, policy and finance sectors ¿ Publication management including the production of print and online publications ¿ Design and management of influential events for high level participants such as CEOs and government leaders ¿ Brand management - experience of working with brand guidelines and raising organisational brand awareness ¿ Knowledge of social media and experience of growing and driving levels of engagement. ¿ Strong levels of creativity, including an ability to communicate complex issues in an engaging and inspiring manner across multiple platforms ¿ An understanding of PR and media relations techniques and experience of building relationships with external stakeholders. ¿ Excellent team management, project management and line management ¿ Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with proven ability to write and copy-edit different types of content to a diverse audience ¿ Excellent organisational, timekeeping and prioritisation skills, with a good ability to work to tight deadlines
