The Department of Computer Science and Technology is an academic department that encompasses computer science along with many aspects of engineering, technology and mathematics. We have a world-wide reputation for academic research with consistently high research ratings, with around 340 academic staff, research associates, and PhD students actively engaged in research projects within the department. Key to our continued success is our ability to attract talented staff and provide them with a stimulating environment that promotes a strong sense of community whilst valuing and recognising individual contribution. We now seek to appoint an experienced HR Manager to support the delivery of a variety of strategic and operational HR tasks within the Department.

As HR manager, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely advice and guidance to our staff on HR related issues across the whole employee lifecycle. In this challenging and exciting role, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with senior members of the Department to develop, implement and maintain the Department’s HR strategy. We will look to you to promote best practice in line with the University’s policies and procedures and employment law, supporting areas such as recruitment, probation, staff review and development, capability and sickness absence processes.

You will join us with experience of managing complex and sensitive personal issues; ideally gained within a Higher Education context. As an excellent communicator, with strong organisational and problem solving skills, you will be proactive in your approach with the ability to use your initiative to reach desired outcomes. Key to your success in this role will be your ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues at all levels.
