A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Assistant Technical Officer in the Pharmacy Non-Sterile Manufacturing unit at the Queens Medical Centre campus of the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Must be in possession of NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services or an equivalent Pharmacy Manufacturing qualification to work as Band 3. If working towards this or need to undertake this qualification, successful applicant will be a Band 2 until qualification is gained

This role is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual

The unit is a busy MHRA licensed unit and prepares extemporaneous items along with licensed batches

Main duties of the job

You will also be required to participate in regular preparation of a variety of products including creams and suspensions

You will need to be accurate in your work and be familiar with Good manufacturing practice (GMP). You will also be required to maintain competency and prove this with annual re-validation.

You must be able to work under pressure, be able to prioritise work and be able to work alone or as part of a team. You will participate in the training of staff new to the department and help to develop new systems of working.

Working for our organisation

You will need to be able to work 37.5 hours over 7 days of the week as required and as the service develops, you may be required to work a shift system. Be flexible to starting early and working late in response to service needs

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Must be in possession of NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services or an equivalent Pharmacy Manufacturing qualification to work as Band 3. If working towards this or need to undertake this qualification, successful applicant will be a Band 2 until qualification is gained

To work unsupervised in all aspects of Non-Sterile batch and special production.

To follow all the working procedures and guidelines in the Non-Sterile Manufacturing Unit to ensure that all dispensing, assembling, manufacturing, checking and other activities are safe, accurate and compliant with current Good Manufacturing Practice, the Trust Risk Management policies and other legal licensing requirements.

To be involved in the rotation and stock control systems for raw materials, labels, containers and sundries used in the section to ensure that the Non-Sterile Manufacturing unit stock is maintained and managed at the most appropriate level for an effective service, whilst minimising expenditure, stockholding and wastage. To engage, if required in any relevant audit being undertaken in the department.

Training and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE grade D or above in English language, Maths and two other subjects
Desirable criteria
  • Possession of or working towards NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services and BTEC Level 2 in Pharmaceutical Science in the relevant units for pharmacy production

Experience
